Together with her team, the speaker of the DZL Munich site (CPC-M) will continue her research on the development of asthma and allergies in children, because the disease mechanisms are still largely unknown. "We would like to be able to explain how the disease comes about in order to prevent its outbreak," said the epidemiologist. With her new institute, she already has two specific projects in mind:

  • The comprehensive characterization of asthma phenotypes within the framework of the ALLIANCE cohort of the German Center for Lung Research (DZL) – read more here!
  • The identification of microbial factors that protect against asthma and allergies in the context of HERA and other studies

Prof. Dr. Dr. von Mutius has been Professor of Pediatric Allergology at the LMU since 2004 and has been head of the Allergy and Asthma Department at Dr. von Hauner Children's Hospital in Munich for 17 years.
